Put Your Faith into Action
As a religious leader, your voice is extremely important in the fight against Amendment 2. Looking for ways to get involved and spread the word? Below is a list of ways that you and your congregation can put your faith into action to defeat Amendment 2.
- Sign your name to the growing list of clergy and religious leaders that pledge to vote NO on Amendment 2.
- Volunteer with the coalitions that are urging Floridians to vote against this amendment. Check out our friends for upcoming events and information about how you can get involved.
- Deliver a sermon about the dangers of Amendment 2 (check out our sidebar for samples). Help your congregation understand that Amendment 2 is an affront to equality and religious liberty in Florida. Encourage them to vote NO on Amendment 2. Then, e-mail us a copy of your sermon so we can share it with others.
- Be creative in getting your congregation involved! Contact our allies to get materials and resources to distribute during services or events. Place an announcement in your congregation’s bulletin reminding congregants to vote NO on Amendment 2. Plan an educational event about Amendment 2 and the harm that it would cause to religious Floridians. Encourage your congregants to volunteer for our partner organizations. - Contact your colleagues! Call or e-mail your fellow clergy members and encourage them to sign the letter and get involved.
