National Council of Jewish Women
The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) supports the right of gay and lesbian couples to legally affirm and protect their relationships through marriage, and opposes efforts to amend state Constitutions to create a federal definition of marriage as only between a man and a woman.
Gay and lesbian couples in this country are forming partnerships, having children, creating families, and will continue to do so. To deny couples in these committed relationships the same legal benefits accorded spouses in heterosexual marriages is prejudicial, counterproductive and morally offensive.
Discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation must be eliminated. NCJW endorses and resolves to work for the enactment and enforcement of laws and regulations that protect civil rights and individual liberties for all.
